The FIC Discussion with Dr. Köstenberger Continues

For those of you who have not followed the discussion, here is a link to Dr. Köstenberger's rejoinder and my answers to his questions. I was reminded today that those who were not keeping up with his blog would not know what has transpired. Also, a number of you have asked for more information on the FIC. Please visit our church website at www.gracefamilybaptist.net. That should answer many of the more common questions, and don't forget our Semper Reformanda Conference coming up on Octobe...

Family Driven Faith in Spanish! (For real This Time) Plus More Good News!

Finally! Family Driven Faith is available in Spanish. Patrimonio Espiritual is available online, and should be in stores soon. This is a major breakthrough that we have been praying for for quite some time. There has been talk about translating the book into a number of languages, but Tyndale was the first to purchase the rights and do the work.

There has been great interest in the Spanish-speaking world. Now we'll see if that interest translates into sales. Prayerfully, this will aid ...

Response to Andreas Köstenberger on the FIC

Let me start by saying that I am a fan of Andreas Köstenberger. I have not only read God, Marriage and Family; I have led small groups in our church using the book. It is one of the most thorough, biblical treatments of the topic available in our day. And I believe it will stand the test of time.

I have also read the new edition (read it online here), and I must say that while I am pleased with the updates, I am both disappointed and saddened by his section on the Family Integrated Church...

10 Things I Hope We Learn from John Piper's Leave of Absence

John Piper has taught me much over the years. I consider it an honor to count him as a friend, and I am deeply saddened by his recent announcement that he will be taking a leave of absence for the remainder of 2010. In explaining his leave of absence, he writes:

The difference between this leave and the sabbatical I took four years ago is that I wrote a book on that sabbatical (What Jesus Demands from the World). In 30 years, I have never let go of the passion for public productivity. In thi...

The Yellow Prison Bus and the Future of American Healthcare (Reprint)

This is a piece originally published on August 29th of last year, but it seems appropriate to publish it again in light of recent events (especially since I'm up against a publishing deadline and don't have much time to blog right now).

Conservatives are up-in-arms over the Democratic healthcare scheme. From town hall meetings, to talk radio, to the internet, the voice of the people is being heard. However, I am not at all convinced that the voice of the people will ultimately make a diffe...

The Politician's corpse was laid away.
While all of his acquaintance sneered and slanged
I wept: for I had longed to see him hanged.
