Can You Keep A Secret? Snippet from STAR CRUISE STAR SONG

From  STAR CRUISE STAR SONG.

The excerpt – Addy ignored a message from Ryder in favor of preparing for her first day on the new job. So he came to find her. I’ve jumped ahead and now they’re on their first dinner date.

“So how was the first day on the job?” he asked. “Did the engines meet your expectations?”

“Oh my gosh, yes. They’re magnificent and perfectly in tune too,” she said with enthusiasm. “The energy in those chambers is off the charts.”

“So I know what it means for me to be in tune,” ...

From the Archive: Why I Wrote DANGER IN THE STARS

DangerInTheStarsFinal

When Pauline B. Jones and I were putting together the first Pets In Space anthology in 2016, I wrote a story for the volume about a kidnapped alien empathic priestess, who was found as a stowaway on my interstellar cruise ship, the Nebula Zephyr, and her adventures fighting her way free of the Combine (Star Cruise: Stowaway). She escaped the villains almost by accident, because she had help from my spaceship crew (and the pets).

I realized after I finished that novella that I wasn’t done wit...

From the Archive: Six Wizard of OZ Romance Retellings

Note: This post first appeared in the Roswell Daily Record…

One trend over the past few years has been for romance authors to take a popular fairy tale and retell it with all kinds of twists and turns the original story certainly didn’t cover. Today I’m going to look at Wizard of Oz retellings, written with generous doses of romance and adventure. Most of these books I’ll mention today are the first title in a series, not surprisingly, since if an author is going to delve further into the life o...

From the Archive: Why I Wrote WINTER SOLSTICE DREAM

Note: This post is from the Archives…

This fantasy holiday romance novella was one of those rare books that actually wrote itself, which is always such a gift from the Muse. I type as fast as I can and hope to get all the words transferred from my mind to the page without losing anything.

There were quite a few factors that went into Winter Solstice Dream, one being I’ve always wanted to write a holiday romance (Regency romances set at Christmas are catnip to me) but since I write scifi romance ...

Memorable Moment RENNYR Badari Gladiator

VS: Amazon says RENNYR is my least popular scifi romance at the moment so I decided to share a snippet from his book today. He’s rescued the Female Main Character Jaine from the alien arena and they’re sharing his cell. Right now she’s asleep in the bed while Rennyr watches over her.

Jaine stood in the center of the arena. The lights were dim and there was no audience. The sand had been raked and cleaned and stretched away from her on all sides. The atmosphere was eerie and unsettling, even know...

From the Archive: Why I Wrote BADARI MEDIC with Excerpt

As usual with me there were several things going on which inspired me as I originally had no thought of writing this book. I was supposed to be working on another one actually.

It’s been bothering me for a while that I never did much of anything with Brent, who was a supporting character in book one of the series, AYDARR.  He started out as an equal to Gabe and Flo, his mercenary partners and yet as the series progressed I hardly ever mentioned him. Gabe and Flo each got their own book…so it see...

Why I Wrote My Alien Empath #SciFi Romance Novels

ALIEN EMPATH SCIFI ROMANCE SERIES!

Today I’m going to talk about why I wrote the four books in my alien empath series, starting with Star Cruise: Stowaway, which was originally written for the first Pets in Space™  anthology (and is now available separately).

stowawayFrom the beginning I knew I was going to place my Pets story in the Sectors, an interstellar civilization where most of my scifi romances occur. What kind of pet would be logical in a spacefaring world? Of course –  cats go anywhere, any time, right? Not to mention that my o...
