Last Winter Sun by G R Matthews

The heady mix of familiar southern England locations, memories of our own time and technology and an influx of strange magic make Last Winter Sun an enjoyable mix of the familiar and uncanny, with scope for Caleb and his team to undergo more adventures in this very changed world.

A Shadow over Haven by David Green

If you like fast paced urban fantasy, without a focus on romance, instead all about friendships and (found) family as well as plenty of action, banter and intrigue, you have to read these!

Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off #10: The First Five Fall

So here we are, the first cuts for SPFBO 10!As always, let me preface this with the fact that all reading is subjective. So, what we didn’t like might be someone else’s favourite book, and if what you read here sounds like something you’d enjoy, please check them out!Thank you very much to all the authors who entered, we know it is tough to get judged like this, and we definitely appreciate the courage to put your work forward to a contest!

The Dark Feather by Anna Stephens

The Dark Feather by Anna Stephens delivers an epic conclusion to one of the best dark fantasy series I’ve read. This book has ripped out my heart and stomped on it a couple of times, but it also made me feel hope. There is a perfectly struck balance between the horrendous events and those (big and small) moments of gratification and joy.
