Research!

Two days ago, I sent off my novella (set in England, late 1800s) to my editor. Yea!! This novella introduces a new series of novels, and it will release in the spring of 2023.

Now, I am diving into my next novel, this one set circa 950 BC. That's all I'm saying for now, but I am loving the research.

Changing Face of Publishing

A Bit of History

My first book was published in 1984. That was before the internet. It was before most business offices even had computers.

Back then, authors sold their manuscripts to publishers by sending a query letter and sample chapters. We watched our mailboxes like hawks because everything happened via mail. Publishers sold books into bookstores with sales reps who took samples of the front cover to offices to show buyers. They also sold through distributers into grocery stories...

Editors are a Blessing

Yesterday, I finished my “first pass” through the line edits of All She Ever Dreamed.

All She Ever Dreamed

My first thought whenever I get the line edits for one of my books is something like, How did I not see that before I submitted the manuscript? The repetitions, the redundancies, the weak word choices, etc. My editor says I turn in “such clean” manuscripts, but it doesn’t feel that way when I start through the line edits. Sigh.

But then I run across editorial comments like these:

Haha! 🙂

Speak to Me of Love

My novel, Speak to Me of Love (first released by Tyndale House, now published by RobinSong, Inc.), has been exclusive to Amazon for about eight years.

I would like to let my readers who don’t use a Kindle that this ebook is now “wide.” Meaning it is available in ebook format on more sites (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Apple Books for starters).

Here’s a little about the story:

When Faith Butler finds herself and her two children stranded in Dead Horse, Wyoming, she has no choice b...

Preorder All She Ever Dreamed

I’m excited to share that All She Ever Dreamed (Boulder Creek Romance #2) is available on Amazon for preorder. Only the Kindle version can be preordered at this time, but for those of you who like paperbacks, don’t worry. It will be available in that format too. Just look for it closer to the release date.

Preordering the Kindle ebook has an advantage. Preorder price is $3.99. The regular price of $5.29 will apply once the book releases on December 5th.

Here’s the blurb:

My Reading Year Thus Far

In 2013, I participated in my first Goodreads Reading Challenge. I set a goal of 30 books and I read 36. That was my first time to actually track the books I read in a single year. Off and on through the years, I’d tried keeping a notebook by my bed and writing down the books I read and maybe rating them. The habit never took. I kept forgetting the notebook was there.

But Goodreads has made it so easy for me to track, rate, and review, using both my phone and my computer. It has become a habi...

New in Books

Last month, I decided it was time I put some of my ebooks into collections so I could offer them at special prices. These books aren’t part of any series, so instead I did the collections by genre.

Women of HopeLife is hard. God is good.

In this Christian women’s fiction collection, Robin Lee Hatcher presents stories of women who face life’s difficult circumstances with courage and hope.

It’s That Time of Year Again

Recently a friend and I were commiserating about our crazy fall schedules. And this autumn seems especially busy-busy-busy to me.

I’ve got lots of friends and family who have retired or are planning to retire soon. While I am certainly old enough to retire, that word doesn’t seem to be in my vocabulary. And I’m good with that. I’m loving my full life.

Writing

My fall writing schedule calls for me to edit the book I’m almost done revising (All She Ever Dreamed) plus to write one novella ...
