New Review Of My Civil War Novel

I received a new 4-star review on July 27, 2014 of my civil war novel, A DIFFERENCE OF PURPOSE. It was posted by Toni Amper on Amazon. Check it out: "Great novel. Enjoyed the characters. Setting puts the reader on the battlefield. Also, the loss of faith & finding it again amid all the chaos. Author researched the time period well and the political nuances. Stayed awake late to finish the book. Good work Terry." The link for my book is http://www.amazon.com/DIFFERENCE-OF-P...

Review of Diane Rapp's novel, MURDER FOR GLACIER BLUE

Diane Rapp has done it again - kept me up late at night with another page-turner! MURDER FOR GLACIER BLUE is the 3rd book of the author's High Seas Mystery Series. Now, I am interested in reading the other two books!

The author is great at making the reader see. In effect, the reader goes along with the characters on their cruise to Alaska. The novel is imbued with authenticity, due, in part, to the fact that the author went on a cruise to Alaska and no doubt experienced much of what the characters experience. She even co-authored a travel guidebook on cruising, CRUISE THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN. Details of an art theft ring, the art world, painting, and art auctions on the ship also add to the realism of the book.

The characters in the book also come alive, especially Kayla and Steven (the detective couple bound for their marriage and honeymoon at Glacier Bay National Park), Steven's wild and wacky psycho ex-wife (who is intent, VERY INTENT, on spoiling or wrecking Steven's scheduled marriage to Kayla), and an eccentric and cranky old man who brings a coffin onboard the ship (weird!!!) and who wins the bid on the Genuine Fake of the masterpiece painting, Glacier Blue.

There are several interesting characters who had the "motive and opportunity" to commit the murder and art theft on the cruise ship, including Steven's ex-wife, Cynthia. The reader will have a fun read, guessing and wondering "whodunnit", but, more importantly, wondering (on the edge of their seats!!) what is going to happen next.

The tourist sidetrips and sightseeing that the reader engages in along with the characters adds to the realism. Diane Rapp is good at describing the sights, with one highlight being the whales feeding, jumping and diving. A group from my church parish went on a cruise to Alaska and they had a blast. I am sure this book would bring back fond memories to them. I may even sign up next time, especially after reading this well-written book!

So, set sail, kick off your shoes and relax. You are going to enjoy this one!

Review of Diane Rapp's novel, THE HAVENSHIRE RESISTANCE

The Havenshire Resistance (Heirs to the Throne Book 2) The Havenshire Resistance by Diane Rapp

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

AMAZING AND DELIGHTFUL STORY!!

Take a look at the dragon on the cover. You will see it again! I LOVE the cover, and the book only gets better when you delve into it!

If you haven't read Book 1 of the Heir to the Throne series, Chapter 1 of THE HAVENSHIRE RESISTANCE will bring you up to speed and get you into the story. This was an engaging and delightful story and the author's awesome and colorful imagination must have been running at full throttle.

Diane Rapp has a real knack for making a fantasy world real. The characters come alive and there is plenty of action and suspense to propel the reader from chapter to chapter. The attention to detail is remarkable and gives the book a "you are there" quality. I really loved those wolves, especially Kriegen, a wolf-pack leader and I love the way the wolves communicate with humans and with each other with their minds (which is referred to in the book as "mind-speak"). Setting the thoughts out in bold print is a nice touch.

My favorite quote from the wise Kriegen: "Our pack is a small part of wolf society. One day the Council of Elders may agree to meet humans. We must prove humans are worthy to come before them. Some do not believe humans are intelligent and can follow the law. It may take time." My favorite part of the book is when Kriegen the wolf appeared with Queen Krystal before the wolves' Council of Elders at the Bloody Pond to prove that humans are intelligent and can follow the law. Success was absolutely crucial because Queen Krystal needed the Council of Elders to send an army of wolves to help in the upcoming battle at Havenshire.

If you like fantasy novels, you are going to LOVE The Havenshire Resistance! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I recommend it highly. It is the kind of book that is a keeper - the kind you can read over and over again. Don't miss it!
