Hello everyone and thank you Jordan Hawk for hosting me today on our ‘Dirty Dozen’ blog hop. It’s that time of year again, gearing up for GRL 2016 in Kansas City. It’s always fun to meet new people and hang out with old friends. This will be my first GRL as a Featured Author and I’m so excited! I’m also doing a panel with Wade Kelly and Morticia Knight on Thursday at the event. So if you’re going to GRL, be sure to look us up in the program and come to our panel. We’ll be talking about ‘The facts in the fiction’ when Authors write about real persons, places or things. We’ll also be giving away some goodies to anyone attending.
What’s your favorite thing about GRL? Leave a comment below and let me know what you are looking forward to at the event. Now, how about a fun Q&A… each of us twelve Authors submitted a question and we all answer them all. I just love following this hop every year and reading the variety of answers to the same twelve questions.
Dirty Dozen Q&A with Author TM Smith…
Tams – If you could spend the day with one of your characters, which one would it be, and why?
Victor Dimir. I’d love to sit and listen to him talk the way I write him all day long. I think it would be a blast to tour New York with my fictional character that talks in my mind where no one else can hear him.
Jeff – What are you working on currently and what’s it’s inspiration?
I’m just getting started on Snapped, the third book in the Opposites series. There are several things I’m pulling inspiration from for this story. My Celtic roots and spirituality, that sexy red headed Irish man playing Jamie on Outlander and this burning need I have to murder my villain in some horrific and painful way whilst pretending it’s my ex-husband.
Wade – If the lead character in your current novel were to read your other books, which one would be his/her favorite and why?
This is a difficult one since the Opposites books carry a variety of characters. I’ll hop over to the All Cocks stories and the 7th book in that series I’ll be starting at the end of the year. I think that Dean would be fascinated with the Opposites stories, I could see him having a love of Science Fiction and gorgeous guys that carry swords and like to break things.
Jake – If all of your MCs were thrown into a strange and dangerous world where survival relies on ingenuity, creativity and common sense… who would come out on top?
It would be a tossup between Jon and Tristan Brennan. They are both smart, creative, intuitive and downright nasty if you mess with their men or family.
Brandon – What musician or album do you think people should listen to as they read your work because it fits the soul of your words (either a specific title or your writing in general)?
I love this question! I have like, 30 playlists on Youtube. Each book I write has its own playlist. I listen to a lot of Jazz, Celtic and Violin music so those 3 would be a sure fired win. I think if you were to curl up with a copy of Gay for Pay and turn on some smooth or classic Jazz you’d really set the mood for the story.

Morticia – If you could be one of your characters and live their life, who would it be and why?
Sophia Brennan, for many reasons, but mostly because she’s the cool mom with the gorgeous Police Chief husband who just happens to be Irish and a brood of children that would do anything for her.
Tempeste – If you could be a fruit, any fruit, which would you be and why?
LOL, I love this question too! Passion fruit, because I’m passionate… get it… teeheehee.
Jordan – What is the thing you enjoy most about gatherings like GRL?
Getting to meet new people and, in some cases, make lifelong friends. Getting to hang out with this extended family of sorts that I’ve met over the years that I only get to see at events like GRL. And meeting readers that come to these events to meet the writers that breathe life into their favorite characters.
LE Franks – What is the most vivid romantic moment from any film that has lingered the longest and meant the most to you…. and why?
Catch and Release, the scene about midway through the movie where Jennifer Garner crawls into the fold out bed with Timothy Oliphant. The song, the visuals, just everything about it is so beautiful. And then the roomie comes downstairs and totally ruins the moment. Such is life.

K-Lee – If you could take any fictional couple or character (television, movies, real-life, books) and add them to one of your books, who would it be and why?
Stephen Amell and Colton Haynes… why? Because I want them to be a gay couple in one of my books because watching them and the way they interact both on and off screen makes me think they’d be good for each other. Colton only recently came out as gay and Stephen has been his friend through it all. I know he’s straight, has a wife and a babe, but a girl can dream, right?
AE – What kind of quirky habits do you have before or during the time you write?
I have to have my music playing in the background and I like to have imaging of characters, places and things that I’m including in the story. It helps me connect to the characters and the story arc better. And I simply must say, I do my best writing when there is a Mimosa within reach.
Alexa – When you write, do your characters hijack the story, or do you keep a tight grip on the reins?
The characters hijack the story usually. I mean, I generally have a clear picture in my mind of where I want them or the story to go. But I fully embrace any deviations. The worst that can happen is you delete a few thousand words. But some of the best one liners come from the few words you wind up keeping.
I think I had entirely too much fun with the questions this year. I hope you’ll come find me in Kansas City either at one of my lounges, the panel or the signing on Saturday. I’ll have a limited amount of swag with me and it’s first come first chance. I’ll also have books for sale, including my latest release, Hide and Seek, book 6 in the All Cocks Stories. See you in KC!! Don’t forget to enter the giveaway below for a chance at 12 E-books, 1 from each Author on the hop.

Fallow (W&G 8) is Now Available!
When Griffin’s past collides with his present, will it cost the lives of everyone he loves?
Between the threat of a world-ending invasion from the Outside and unwelcome revelations about his own nature, Percival Endicott Whyborne is under a great deal of strain. His husband, Griffin Flaherty, wants to help—but how can he, when Whyborne won’t tell him what’s wrong?
When a man from Griffin’s past murders a sorcerer, the situation grows even more dire. Once a simple farmer from Griffin’s hometown of Fallow, the assassin now bears a terrifying magical corruption, one whose nature even Whyborne can’t explain.
To keep Griffin’s estranged mother safe, they must travel to a dying town in Kansas. But as drought withers the crops of Fallow, a sinister cult sinks its roots deep into the arid soil. And if the cult’s foul harvest isn’t stopped in time, Fallow will be only the first city to fall.
