I pay my credit card bill and I’M A DEADBEAT?

So I guess the big news for me today was to learn that the credit card companies refer to me as a deadbeat because I only rack up expenses that I can handle and then I have the nerve to pay them off every month. Apparently they are so angry at outrageous jackasses like me that they are thinking of leveling punishing fees and extra charges against us to compensate  for the new rules that Congress is in the process of passing  that are designed to keep them from changing their interest rates in th

God’s Smarter Brother

I just got back from a vacation. I went with the man with whom I live and David Attenborough, who bobs around in my head all day and narrates anything that I encounter if it involves  natural beauty. If I were to invent a religion, I would center it around David Attenborough because he seems to be God’s smarter better intended brother. In his BBC documentaries he is everywhere and knows everything worth knowing. He is in the trees, under the seas, beneath the ice, and also somehow just in back o

My biggest ‘thanks for nothing’ moments

Well, I knew there would eventually be something I would like about aging . Swine flu is it. The LAST theoretical swine flu epidemic (at the cusp of the eighties) was my first official recorded WTF? moment. Is i

Forever chasing bottles.

Well, I wanted to try and keep up the blog entries but today I am too unfocused and feel like I need to work. I am supposed to be writing another book. Instead I have been wasting a lot of time. That’s what I do when I have to work. For further explanation of this phenomenon, read “How to Get Things Done” by Robert Benchley. He wrote it in 1949 but not much is different now, if you’re me. So instead  I thought I would put up this little film I made when I first learned how to edit. I never showe

In praise of “Fuck!”: Maybe the most useful word ever.

Much has been said about the silliness of the obscenity  rules and definitions of the FCC . Particularly ridiculous is the way it handles  word censorship. But this week, in the new ruling by the Supreme Court  that upheld a previous obscenity ruling,  Justice Scalia rationalized his incedibly archaic opinion by saying, in part,   “Cher metaphorically suggested a sexual act as a means of expressing hostility to her critics. ” He is referring to the fact that Cher said  “Fuck ‘em.” in response to
