“Me sirven de advertencia; el premio es grande si uno cumple con ellas. Nadie parece darse cuenta de los errores que comete. ¡Perdóname, Dios mío, los pecados que cometo sin darme cuenta!”. Salmo 19:11-12 (TLA)

Gran parte de la voluntad de Dios ya ha sido revelada. ¡Los principios están ahí! Cuando abres tu Biblia, Dios abre Su boca y comienza a hablar. ¿Estás esperando que Dios escriba Su voluntad en el Cielo? ¿Por qué tendría que hacer eso cuando ya la ha escrito en un libro? Abre la Biblia a diario y verás lo que Dios dice.

Deja de buscar una voz y empieza a buscar un versículo.

“Me sirven de advertencia; el premio es grande si uno cumple con ellas” Salmo 19:11 (TLA).

Dios te enseñará sus principios, y cuando busques orientación, podrás evaluar si tus circunstancias y emociones se alinean con Su Palabra. La Biblia confirmará la voluntad de Dios.

Y ten esto en cuenta: Dios espera que obedezcas lo que ya sabes antes de que te muestre algo nuevo. Entonces, si Dios ya te ha dicho lo que Él espera que hagas y todavía no lo has hecho, no esperes que te muestre el siguiente paso. Dios espera que des el primer paso.

Te he pedido antes que practiques la meditación en la Palabra de Dios y que puedes usar el Salmo 23 para comenzar. Meditar en la Palabra de Dios significa pensar profundamente y enfocarse en Su Palabra por un período de tiempo. Primero, lee el pasaje lentamente, quizás en voz alta unas cuantas veces, poniendo énfasis en diferentes palabras o frases. En segundo lugar, reflexiona sobre la verdad del texto. Tercero, responde a Dios a la luz de lo que acabas de leer, esto puede ser en voz baja o en voz alta. Cuarto, descansa en la Palabra de Dios, escucha lo que Dios tiene que decir a través de las Escrituras.

Abre tu Biblia y descubre la voluntad de Dios para tu vida. Luego, tienes que dedicar tiempo a leerla y estudiarla para que pueda transformar tu corazón y tu mente.

Romans 8:28 (NIV)

You’ve heard this phrase over and over: “Forgive and forget.” There’s only one problem with it: You can’t do it. It’s impossible!

You really can’t forget a hurt in your life. In fact, there’s really no use in even trying to forget. Because when you try to forget, you end up focusing on the very thing you want to forget.

And the truth is, God doesn’t want you to forget. Instead, he wants you to trust him and see how he can bring good out of the hurt. That’s more important than forgetting. When you see God bring good out of a bad situation, you can thank him for that good work. You can’t thank God for things you forget.

Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (NIV).

It doesn’t say that all things are good—because all things are not good. Disease is not good. A broken relationship is not good. War is not good. Abuse is not good.

There are a lot of things in life that are evil. Not everything that happens in this world is God’s will.

But God says he will work good out of the bad things in life if you will trust him. You can go to him and say, “God, I give you all the pieces of my life.”

He will take your pieces and instead give you peace in your heart. This peace will come when you realize you can forgive, even if you don’t understand the hurt in your life, because you know God will use that pain for good. 

You don’t have to forget the wrong thing someone did to you. You couldn’t forget even if you tried! But God says there’s no need to forget it. You just have to forgive and then see how God will bring good out of the hurt.

Talk It Over

Who have you not forgiven because you haven’t wanted to forget or let go of what they did to you?
What do you need to do today to forgive that person and move on? How does it help knowing God doesn’t expect you to forget?
How have you seen God bring good things out of difficult situations in your life?

Accept God’s forgiveness today.

God proved his love for you through his Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 CSB).

Are you ready to trust God to fulfill his promise of eternal life? If so, start by praying this simple prayer:

“Dear God, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. You have promised that if I believe in Jesus, you’ll forgive me for everything I’ve ever done wrong, you’ll show me the purpose of my life, and you’ll accept me into your family and bring me to heaven one day to live with you for eternity.

“Jesus, I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. I trust you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I ask you to come into my life as my Lord. Today, I commit my life to you.

“I want to live the way you created me to live—at peace and rested—and to use the remainder of my life to serve you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

“Hay caminos que al hombre le parecen rectos, pero que acaban por ser caminos de muerte”. Proverbios 14:12 (NVI)

Todas las emociones son temporales, sean buenas o malas. Puedes sentir fascinación en Disneyland, pero no durará. Puedes estar eufórico después de haber ganado un juego, pero no va a durar. Puedes estar muy entusiasmado por tu boda, pero eventualmente vas a darte cuenta de que cada matrimonio tiene sus altos y sus bajos. Lo mismo ocurre con las emociones negativas. Si estás desalentado, enojado o triste, no va a durar. Las emociones no son permanentes.

¿Alguna vez escuchaste a un creyente decir, “Simplemente deja que tu conciencia te guíe”? Es cierto que Dios te dio una conciencia para que ayude a guiarte. Pero no es infalible. Tu conciencia puede estar equivocada. ¡La conciencia de cualquiera de nosotros puede estar equivocada! Proverbios 14:12 dice, “Hay caminos que al hombre le parecen rectos, pero que acaban por ser caminos de muerte” (NVI).

Puedes dejarte llevar por tus emociones o elegir ser guiado por la Palabra de Dios, que nunca falla y siempre conduce a la vida.

“I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Luke 23:43 (NLT)

When the criminal hanging next to Jesus on the cross asked Jesus to remember him, Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43 NLT). With his response, Jesus gave four characteristics of salvation that you, too, can trust and believe in.

First, salvation is immediate. Jesus said, “Today.” When you die, you either go straight into the presence of God or you go straight into separation from God. And salvation is immediate too. The moment you ask Jesus Christ to save you, it’s done. 

Second, salvation is certain. Jesus said, “Today you will.” He didn’t say, “You might” or “I hope.” His answer wasn’t, “Let me think about it.” He said, “You will.” When you accept Christ, you can be certain of your salvation.

Third, salvation is a relationship. Jesus said, “You will be with me.” Salvation is not a religion. It’s not rules or regulations or rituals. It’s a relationship. That relationship doesn’t begin when you get to heaven. It begins here on earth. Jesus Christ wants to be your best friend; he wants to talk with you all the time. God made you for a relationship with him!

Fourth, salvation leads to a real place. Jesus said, “Today you will be with me in paradise.” Heaven is a real place, and it’s forever.

Two criminals were crucified with Jesus, one on either side. Jesus gave them the choice of salvation, and he gives you the same choice. He won’t force you to love him. He’s not going to force you to trust him or accept heaven either. The choice is yours.

One of the two criminals rejected Jesus. The other turned to him in faith. You have the same choice.

Romans 10:13 says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (NIV). Do you believe these truths about salvation? Are you ready to call on the name of the Lord?

The Bible says, “This is the hour to receive God’s favor; today is the day to be saved!” (2 Corinthians 6:2 GNT).

Choose to settle the issue of your eternal destiny today. Trust Jesus’ promise of salvation.

Talk It Over

When you die, you either go to be in God’s presence or are separated from him. Does this truth encourage or scare you? What does your response tell you about your need for salvation?
Do you think of salvation as more of a religion or relationship? What’s one step you can take today to develop your relationship with Jesus?
Has Jesus saved you? If not, what’s keeping you from calling on him for salvation today?

Will you follow Jesus today?

God proved his goodness through his Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 CSB).

“Me complace hacer tu voluntad, Dios mío, pues tus enseñanzas están escritas en mi corazón”. Salmo 40:8 (NTV)

Si quieres conocer la voluntad de Dios, debes dejar de guiarte por las circunstancias.

Quizás te preguntes: “Un momento, ¿acaso Dios no dirige mis circunstancias?”. Sí, Dios quiere dirigir tus circunstancias, pero nunca debes dejar que tus circunstancias sean tu guía.

Un ejemplo claro es la historia de Jonás. Dios le dijo a Jonás que fuera a Nínive y predicara allá. Jonás le respondió a Dios que no iría y se fue en la dirección opuesta. Estas son las circunstancias: había un barco en el puerto esperando para zarpar hacia Tarsis; Jonás tenía el dinero para el pasaje; en el barco había lugar para que Jonás viajara; Jonás se embarca. Con todos los detalles alineados para que él viajara a Tarsis, él podría haber pensado fácilmente, “esta debe ser la voluntad de Dios”. Pero ¿acaso no terminó siendo una decisión equivocada? ¡No puedes confiar solo en las circunstancias!

La Biblia está llena de ejemplos de circunstancias que parecían prometedoras y terminaron en desastre.

En Hechos 27, Pablo había sido llevado a Roma como prisionero. La noche anterior a la fecha de la partida de su barco, Dios le dijo a Pablo durante su oración que el barco se encaminaría directo a una tormenta. Pablo se lo comunicó a los marineros y al capitán, “Señores, veo que nuestro viaje va a ser desastroso y que va a causar mucho perjuicio tanto para el barco y su carga como para nuestras propias vidas” Hechos 27:10 (NVI).

Desafortunadamente, las circunstancias evitaron que los hombres escucharan a Pablo: “Cuando comenzó a soplar un viento suave del sur, creyeron que podían conseguir lo que querían, así que levaron anclas …Poco después se nos vino encima un viento huracanado, llamado Nordeste, que venía desde la isla.  El barco quedó atrapado por la tempestad y no podía hacerle frente al viento, así que nos dejamos llevar a la deriva… a duras penas pudimos sujetar el bote salvavidas” Hechos 27:13-16 (NVI). 

Así les ocurre a muchos creyentes que confían demasiado en las circunstancias. Las circunstancias parecían buenas, pero se transformaron en desastrosas.

Las circunstancias pueden engañarte. Puedes malinterpretarlas, confiar en ellas sin garantías o incluso ser manipulado por el enemigo. Así que siempre chequea tus circunstancias con la Palabra de Dios.

Reflexiona sobre esto :

Piensa en algún momento en que pensaste que algo circunstancial era una puerta abierta. ¿Esas circunstancias confirmaron la voluntad de Dios o te desviaron del camino?¿Por qué a veces es más fácil seguir nuestras circunstancias que la voluntad de Dios?¿Cómo puede Dios usar tus circunstancias para ayudar a dirigirte en el camino que debes seguir?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

In Luke 23:42, one of the criminals hanging next to Jesus on the cross prayed, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (NIV).

By that time, Jesus was famous for doing miracles. But notice the man didn’t ask Jesus to stop his pain, even though he would have been in excruciating pain. He didn’t ask Jesus to save him from death either.

He said, “Jesus, remember me.” Why? Because he knew his deepest need was salvation from sin and a home in heaven. And he believed Jesus could provide it.

The Bible says in Acts 16:31, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (NIV).

So how do you know for sure that you’re saved from sin? How do you know you’re going to heaven when you die? How can you be certain? How can you eliminate your doubt? 

Your assurance of salvation doesn’t come from what you do, because you can’t earn your salvation. It’s not from your feelings, because feelings come and go.

So what can make you sure of your salvation? The promise of God’s Word. If God says it, that settles it—because God cannot lie. You can trust the promise of God’s Word. You can rest in it.

Jesus replied to the criminal hanging on the cross, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43 NLT). And you can have the same assurance of salvation: If you “believe in the Lord Jesus,” God promises that you will be in heaven with him one day.

Talk It Over

How do you know you can trust the Bible and God’s promises?
Have you trusted Jesus for salvation? If not, are you ready to do that today?
If you have trusted Jesus, how do you live differently because of your assurance of salvation through Christ?

Have you trusted God’s promise of salvation?

If you’re ready to commit your life to Jesus, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are God, my Savior. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning every part of my life over to you. I want to follow you and do what you tell me to do.

“Jesus, I am grateful for your love and sacrifice that makes it possible for me to join you in heaven. Thank you that I don’t have to earn or work for my salvation, because I know that is impossible. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you, and I ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

“Camina con sabios y te harás sabio; júntate con necios y te meterás en dificultades”. Proverbios 13:20 (NTV)

Una de las razones por las que muchas personas se desvían del plan de Dios es la presión social. La mayoría de nosotros sabemos lo que es eso cuando fuimos niños o adolescentes, pero esa presión en realidad continúa en la edad adulta. Hay muchos malos consejos flotando por ahí, y muy a menudo nos sentimos presionados por seguirlos.

Proverbios 13:20 dice “Camina con sabios y te harás sabio; júntate con necios y te meterás en dificultades”.

No puedes volar con las águilas si estás corriendo con los pavos, así que elige a tus amigos con prudencia. Si te mantienes en compañía de amigos sabios, serás sabio.

Nos preocupamos por la contaminación del aire y del agua, pero ¿qué hay de la contaminación mental? Si quieres seguir la dirección de Dios, busca consejo en la fuente correcta.

La Biblia dice en 1 Juan 3:7, “¡que nadie los engañe! Todo el que obedece a Dios es tan justo como lo es Jesús” (TLA).

El termómetro refleja la temperatura del ambiente, mientras que el termostato la regula. Todos los días, te enfrentas a una decisión: ¿vas a ser un termostato o un termómetro?

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Quiénes son las personas que más influyen en ti?¿Crees que Dios quiere que seas amigo de los incrédulos? ¿Por qué o por qué no?¿Cómo puede una persona que es más tranquila o menos abierta que otras, ayudar a establecer la temperatura de su entorno?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? “What we mean is that God was in Christ, offering peace and forgiveness to the people of this world. And he has given us the work of sharing his message about peace.”

2 Corinthians 5:19 (CEV)

In January 1956, five American missionaries headed to Ecuador’s rainforest. They were visiting the Huaorani tribe, which anthropologists said was the most vicious, violent society on earth. As soon as the missionaries exited their plane, they were speared to death. The brutal murders of these men, who included Nate Saint and Jim Elliot, made news around the world.

A couple years later, Elisabeth and Valerie Elliot (wife and daughter of Jim Elliot), and Rachel Saint (sister of Nate Saint), moved into the Huaorani village to minister and show love and forgiveness. Eventually, the tribe’s leader and other men who participated in the missionary murders became Christians.

The forgiveness Elisabeth Elliot, Valerie Elliot, and Rachel Saint modeled only makes sense when you have been forgiven by God. So, once you’ve experienced God’s forgiveness, how do you forgive? You do the four things these women did:

Relinquish your right to get even. This is the heart of forgiveness. Romans 12:19 says, “Don’t try to get even. Let God take revenge” (CEV). Even if you think you deserve to retaliate, don’t. Trust God to take care of any repayment.

Respond to evil with good. How can you tell when you’ve completely forgiven someone? When you can pray for God to bless the person who hurt you. The Bible says. “Do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you” (Luke 6:27-28 NIV). 

Repeat these steps as long as necessary. Peter asked Jesus in Matthew 18:21, “How many times should I forgive someone who does something wrong to me? Is seven times enough?” (CEV). Jesus replied, “Not just 7 times, but 77 times!” (Matthew 18:22 CEV). Sometimes forgiveness has to be continual.

Rescue others with the Good News of God’s forgiveness. Once you forgive the people who’ve hurt you, you’re free to share the Good News of God’s forgiveness with them and with others. The apostle Paul invited people to accept God’s forgiveness this way: “God was in Christ, offering peace and forgiveness to the people of this world. . . . We speak for Christ and sincerely ask you to make peace with God” (2 Corinthians 5:19-20 CEV).

If you’ve been holding on to pain caused by someone else, don’t sit another day in your resentment. Ask God to help you work through your hurt and forgive those who’ve hurt you. Then you can move on to the life you were created to live!

What do you learn from how Elisabeth Elliot, Valerie Elliot, and Rachel Saint responded to the murders of their family members?
Have you been in a situation where you’ve had to forgive someone “not just 7 times, but 77 times Matthew 18 says? What gave you the strength to do that?
Who in your life needs to hear God’s message of forgiveness, peace, and salvation?

“No imiten las conductas ni las costumbres de este mundo, más bien dejen que Dios los transforme en personas nuevas al cambiarles la manera de pensar. Entonces aprenderán a conocer la voluntad de Dios para ustedes, la cual es buena, agradable y perfecta”. Romanos 12:2 (NTV)

Hay dos versículos en la Biblia, escritos por el mismo autor, que parecen transmitir mensajes opuestos:

“No améis al mundo, ni las cosas que están en el mundo. Si alguno ama al mundo, el amor del Padre no está en él” 1 Juan 2:15 (NVI). ¡Es muy claro!

“Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo. . .” Juan 3:16 (NVI). Esto parece que fuera una gran contradicción.

La expresión ‘al mundo’ tiene dos significados diferentes en estos versículos. El primer versículo se refiere al sistema de valores del mundo y el segundo se refiere a las personas del mundo. Debemos amar a las personas, independientemente de las decisiones que tomen, pero debemos odiar el sistema de valores (por ejemplo, prejuicios, racismo, injusticia, sexismo, guerra).

El problema es que, con frecuencia, invertimos ese orden y lo confundimos. Amamos el sistema de valores y odiamos a las personas. Muchos cristianos caemos en este error constantemente. En lugar de ser diferentes, llegamos ser igual de materialistas, igual de hedonistas y nos dejemos atrapar en la cultura.

A lo largo de tu vida, enfrentarás una gran presión para adaptarte a la cultura que te rodea. Este fue el mayor problema de Israel durante miles de años. Querían ser como otras naciones. Sin embargo, Dios les dio todo tipo de leyes morales, civiles y ceremoniales para hacerlos diferentes con un propósito.

Dios ha hecho lo mismo por ti y por mí. No vivimos bajo la ley del Antiguo Testamento, pero Dios nos ha dicho exactamente cómo debemos vivir y cómo obtenemos la sabiduría y el poder para estar de pie en este mundo: “No imiten las conductas ni las costumbres de este mundo, más bien dejen que Dios los transforme en personas nuevas al cambiarles la manera de pensar. Entonces aprenderán a conocer la voluntad de Dios para ustedes, la cual es buena, agradable y perfecta” Romanos 12:2 (NTV).

Una de las razones por las que no comprendes la voluntad de Dios es que podrías estar demasiado inmerso en la cultura del mundo. Esto sucede sin que te des cuenta. Pero no puedes pensar como el mundo y también querer pensar como Dios piensa. Tienes que tomar una decisión.

El problema con seguir la cultura es que todo es temporal. Necesitas seguir algo que es eterno: la Palabra de Dios. Llena tu mente con la verdad de Dios y deja que transforme tu vida cambiando tu forma de pensar.

¿Cuáles son algunas normas culturales que son parte de tu vida que contradicen la Palabra de Dios?Si tienes problemas para pensar en formas en que se haya adaptado a la cultura secular, haz una lista: escribe los cinco valores principales que te impulsan en cada área de la vida. ¿Están esos valores basados en lo que la cultura valora o en lo que la Palabra de Dios dice que debes valorar? ¿Tienen significado eterno?¿Por qué las personas piensan que están satisfechas con cosas que son solo temporales?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? “To worry yourself to death with resentment would be a foolish, senseless thing to do.”

Job 5:2 (GNT)

When you hang on to resentment, it always hurts you more than anyone else. Resentment is self-destructive and counterproductive.

Resentment just makes no sense.

If anyone ever had a reason to be resentful, it was Job. He was a godly man who had everything he could ever want—wealth, fame, and a great family. One day, he lost it all. Enemy nations killed his livestock. All of his children died in a horrific storm. He got a terrible disease.

He literally lost everything he had, except for his wife, but then in his darkest moment, she said to him, “Why don’t you curse God and die?” (Job 2:9 GNT).

Then a group of his friends came along and said, “Job, it’s all your fault.”

But right in the middle of a lot of bad advice-giving, one of his friends shared a word of wisdom. He insisted that growing resentful was a bad idea. He said to Job, “To worry yourself to death with resentment would be a foolish, senseless thing to do” (Job 5:2 GNT). 

Job’s friend was wise. He knew—even in the midst of such great heartache—resentment wouldn’t help. In fact, it would just make things worse. 

If you think back through experiences in your own life, you’ll probably agree. Have you ever done things you regret when you were caught up in resentment? Maybe you said something like, “I’m going to get him back!” Then you did something foolish to get even.

When you give in to resentment, you end up acting in self-destructive ways. You hurt yourself much more than those you’re holding grudges against. Resentment makes you miserable. And it never ends with you getting what you want.

So why hold on to your resentment for one more minute? Let go of resentment today. Choose to forgive and enjoy living in the freedom that forgiveness brings.

What are some ways you’ve seen resentment hurt you or someone you care about?
How has your life changed for the better when you’ve let go of a hurt rather than hanging on to resentment?
What past hurt do you need to forgive in order to let go of lingering resentment?

No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready to accept God’s offer of salvation? Here’s a prayer you can pray: “Dear God, I know when I die, I’m going to give an account of my life to you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins and toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all that I’ve done wrong so that I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord. I could never be good enough to get into a perfect place.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly, certainly, completely, and eternally. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
