It's here!!!
[image error]One Summer has arrived! Today I saw it on the shelves of O'Mahony's bookshop on Limerick's O'Connell Street - and seeing your book for the first time in a bookshop is a thrill that never fades. I was as excited seeing it on the shelf today as I was eight years ago, when I walked into a bookshop and saw The Daisy Picker, my very first book, sitting there! I remember skulking around the shop for ages, waiting to see if anyone would choose it. I'm sure the staff thought I was a shoplifter, waiting for my chance to grab a few books and run!
In other news, I've made a start on a new book, and I'm about 50 pages in. Very different. Very, very different. That's all I'm saying right now! (I know, I'm such a tease.) But I also have an idea for a book that's quite similar in style to what's gone before, so hopefully I'll eventually manage to please all of the people all of the time!

World Book Day - busy, busy...
[image error]Well, I've been a right busy bumble bee this past week - yesterday, March 1, was World Book Day, and in advance of that I was contacted by various interested parties asking if I could come and talk to children about books and reading, so I was delighted to oblige. On Tuesday I met two groups of children from Newport School in Eason's bookshop in Nenagh, County Tipperary; on Wednesday and Thursday I visited two lovely country schools in County Cork, Ballintotas National School just outside Midleton and Clonpriest National School just outside Youghal, and this morning, Friday, I was in Hughes & Hughes bookshop in Ennis, County Clare, telling stories to four year olds and chatting about all things bookish to older girls, all from Scoil Críost Rí. I really enjoyed my week - everywhere I went I got a great welcome, not to mention lots of cups of tea and coffee, and I even scored a few scones!
