Quick Update re New Projects

After extensive revision, I’ve finished my most recent project. It’s not right for the publisher I worked with before (sorry, Blind Eye Books!) so I’m exploring new options for this novel. Very exciting!

While that’s in process, I’ve been writing a few short stories while I think about where my next project might take me. I’m also thinking about social media presence and how I want my website to look without doing anything unduly dramatic to it.

As for short stories, I really love writing nove...

Familiarity Breeds Respect

On one oddly warm yet rainy Northwestern day, about three weeks ago, I made a huge mistake.

For years, I’d been using my Amazon.com wish list as a to-read list. I started doing that in Germany, when I didn’t have access to a public library with a large and current English selection. So this year, for 2015, I decided to clean up my life by decluttering my wish list. Step One: I’d delete all the books I had no interest in reading. (Who knows why I wanted to read Heinlein’s Puppet Masters. Maybe...

Broad Universe & Rapid Fire Reading

I’m happy to say that I’ve joined Broad Universe and will be participating at the Rapid Fire Reading at Norwescon in Seattle.

I’ve never been to Norwescon and I’m excited to see what this convention is like. Specific details regarding the reading, such as the line up or the time, have yet to be publicly released, but from what I can see it looks like it’s going to be great. I’ve volunteered to donate a copy of Highfell Grimoires to the reading’s prize/giveaway bag. So that sounds like a lot of...

2014 in Review

I hope all of you have enjoyed your holidays, and here’s wishing you a happy new year.

2014: Year in Review, Highlights

January: I finished the last of the edits from Blind Eye Books’ editor Nicole Kimberling, who turned it over to my copyeditor.

February – March: I received and reviewed the copyedits and returned Highfell so that it could go to print.

April – May: I started to talk to people about the book, because I was so excited it was coming out in May!

June: I started a new book. Then I had...

Unintentional Gifts

Happy holidays!

I hope you’re enjoying the winter season, whether you’ve got rain, snow, or sunshine. It’s been a busy and stressful time of year for me, as I know it must be for many of you. Curling up with a book, a blanket, and a cup of tea next to the Christmas tree must be one of my favorite cozy wintertime treats! It’s oh-so relaxing to read, sometimes glance at the Christmas tree, and think: I totally decorated the hell out of that Christmas tree! You’re looking good, tree.

So, in the sp...

GeekGirlCon – I’m on a Panel

Now that I’m feeling intrepid, I’ve dug up the link for the panel that I’m on:

http://geekgirlcon.com/schedule/?date=10/12/2014

You’ll be able to find me (and some other really fantastic authors at Gaylaxy Quest: Exploring Queer Fantasy and Science Fiction at GeekGirlCon on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Basically, going to that panel would be perfect before having afternoon tea. ;)

GeekGirl Con

I’m going to be at GeekGirl Con! Hurray. I’ll be doing a panel on Sunday around 2:00 and when I am feeling more intrepid (that will be hopefully tomorrow) I will find a link that will tell you more.

I also am nominated for a Rainbow Award. It’s such a thrill to be shortlisted like that, and I can happily say that the other authors in my same category are so fantastic it’s a little staggering to be put alongside them. So I am excited about that too.

And in other news: Like the new website?
