BYWAYS: Summer Reading Sale
One of my favorite parts of summer as a child was reading. In addition to weekly trips to the library for sacks of books, I owned several series that I would reread each summer. If you’re looking for a summer adventure and e-books are your thing, I’m giving you a heads up. For a limited time, the Byways e-books are going on sale!
Each week, I’ll be running a Kindle Countdown Deal on one book in the series. Check back regularly to pick up a $4.99 e-book for just $1.99. Right now, Ewan’s first...
BYWAYS: Update
Update! I’ve spent the last couple months deep in Liberty, wrapping up manuscripts for the next three Byways Books. Time to launching into editing mode! Meanwhile, the illustrations are coming along beautifully. This trio is momentous because with books #11, #12, and #13, we’ve now covered the thirteen original colonies! (And hey, did you notice that there’s a circle of 13 stars on the cover? Rangers also wear cloak pins with thirteen stars.) Look forward to Byways #11, Beneath the Torch: A...

CHIT-CHAT: Harrow
The Keeper charged through the Harrow’s front door, bellowing, “Aurelius!”
“In here,” his brother-in-law sang out.
Following the sound of his voice into the sleeping chamber, he found the man packing for his trip. Holding up two vests in slightly different shades of brown, he asked, “Chestnut or nutmeg?”

Gilded Fingers. I’m forever running into things that remind me of my stories. In a recent perusal of nail polish at a local variety store, I snagged two b...

IN PRINT: Byways 8-10
Boxes of books showed up on my doorstep over the weekend, one for each brother. And for the record, Ganix came in first (because his was the first box I opened), and Zane edged out Ewan by two whole days. Quite the race!
Print editions are available wherever books are sold.
Which brother’s book will you reach for first?

Galleries of Stone Reread
I did an authorial reread of Meadowsweet and Harrow, partly for practical reasons. Along the way, I flagged several quotes that I can use for tweeting on my Galleries_Stone account. But I also reread for the fun of it. I love Tupper’s story. Lots.

Deuce, Chapter 23: Dip, Drip
Dip, Drip
Ulrica trailed after Aurelius, who aimed for the closest stream. “Will this suffice?” he asked.
“Aye, for its fresh.”
“Sea water wouldn’t work?”
“Nay.” Dipping into the pouch at her waist, she palmed her precious bit of blue. “All the tears in the world couldn’t convince this guardian to move. Only sweet waters will do.”
When she knelt on the bank, he crowded close. “How does it work? Show me!”
But she kept her treasure hidden. “You will keep my secrets.”
Aurelius rolled his eye...

NEWSWORTHY: Local Author Exhibit
50th Anniversary. It’s that time of year again! The San Diego Public Library honors book-creators every year with their Local Author Exhibit. At tonight’s reception, writers of all sorts of books fanned out through the stacks, searching through dozens of glass display cases to find that one special book they can call their own. My contribution for 2015 was Galleries of Stone, Book 3: Rakefang.
If you’re from the San Diego area, you have a few weeks to get on down to the central library and...
COVER REVEAL: Back on Track
Hurlock’s long legs had no problem keeping up with the donkey cart, but Ganix had to jog. Before long, he was out of breath, so he Changed into a raccoon. Scampering up the man’s leg, he climbed onto Hurlock’s shoulder.
“I hope that’s you, Ganix.”
The young coon chirred happily and made himself comfy. Having teammates was the best!
—Byways Book #10, Back on Track: A Ganix Johns Adventure
Donkeys and Disguises. To keep his teammates safe, Ganix Johns is hiding in one of Liberty’s new colonies...
