November 2024!

New books, old books, what a month!

Hey, team.

I have a lot of feelings about a lot of things that happened this month, and one day, I might even write about them cogently. For now, however, I will simply say please read more books. Always be reading, and not just for escaping but for learning. I will say do not be afraid of big books. Do not be afraid of complicated sentences or books that implicate you in the horrors we live through. Do not shirk from your responsibility as a citizen of the worl...

August, part 2, aka September

Ho, what news?!

When I drafted this, it was actually my birthday month, but it was so big that I had to split it into two. So you got an earlier newsletter that wasn’t really a newsletter at all, but a bro-themed resource list, and now this. So here are all the updates that I can actually give you.

Books I’m Writing The Sovereign aka Book 3 of The Magic of the Lost

It’s had a difficult time on hiatus due to other projects that needed to take precedence. When I can, I’m working on the third and ultim...

Getting Jock on Main

Or, How to Get Touraine’s Arms

Woohoo, birthday month! [edit: i posted this thinking it was already august. oops. oh well! party early!]

It’s been a long time since an update, mostly because I have little news that I can share with you other than the fact that there is so much happening and I can share it with you! Infuriating, I know, but all will become clear soon, including reasons for the delays on The Sovereign. So this newsletter isn’t really an update at all but a few resources regarding wo...

March 2024 – The Sovereign, A Glimpse

One year from the release of The Faithless, one year out from The Sovereign…

Howdy, everyone. I hope you’re hanging in there. Unfortunately, things haven’t changed greatly for the world since my last newsletter. Despite the great galvanizing of people across the world against the Palestinian genocide, most governmental leaders have dug in their heels, or worse waved their bloody hands in the air as if they were helpless.

It’s hard not to feel helpless ourselves when that’s the response. That doesn...

"Revolution is not a game."

In Support of a Free Palestine

Hello, everyone.

As I type this, the continuous bombardment of Palestinians in their homeland ramps up to a horrifying pitch, supported by the biggest governments of the west spending your tax money, nations who are complicit in their own colonial crimes and have a vested interest in the Palestinian colonial project because they created it and benefit from it.

As I have written on Twitter, so I will restate here: The Unbroken and The Faithless were inspired as much by...

Bonus – We Mow Lawns – Magic of the Lost AU

Guess who’s back with another AU! This one of a decidedly different and very NSFW nature!

Back in January when I was in Australia, I was driving around–being driven, actually–and we passed a black sign hung on someone’s fence that said in white paint, “WE MOW LAWNS” with a phone number on it. Dunno about you, but like any good lesbian, I don’t mow grass lawns because I believe in protecting the pollinators. (And because I don’t have a lawn, but that’s not the point.)

Point is, I thought th...

The Unbroken Recap

Last time, on The Magic of the Lost…

Okay, first things first, if you came here by accident, there are spoilers for The Unbroken below the art. This includes an extensive list of people who did not survive to be in The Faithless. So you’ve been warned. What follows below is a very broad strokes summary; which may be further detailed as I feel the need/desire.

Touraine and Luca, by @Marceline2714

Touraine and her fellow Balladairan Colonial Conscripts (aka the Sands) arrive in Qazal, a co...

New Novel Announcement: Warmongers

My next novel after the Magic of the Lost trilogy has been officially announced! Enter, WARMONGERS, a “heart-wrenching epic fantasy set in a kingdom in a cycle of eternal war, where two women—once lovers and warriors at arms—are set on a collision course when years after their separation, one is crowned king and the other vows to kill her.”

I’ve mentioned this book periodically in tweets:

Playing with a new WIP–emphasis on the word play–and it's 100% me on my very same bullshit so maybe y...

Bonus – Spoilers – Magic of the Lost Brunch AU

This post is inspired by this tweet:

I typed it out and couldn’t get the idea out of my head and so I had to make that YOUR problem.

First off: if you continue reading this little short, you may be spoiled. You will meet new characters you haven’t met and they will have relationships you don’t know about yet.

Second off: just because these characters may exist in books one, two, or even three, doesn’t mean they all live happily ever after. Doesn’t even mean they live! That’s why I...
