MICHAEL DYLAN WELCH is a poet and editor who lives near Seattle, Washington. He has published his poetry, essays, and reviews in hundreds of journals and anthologies, including three Norton poetry anthologies, and his poems have been translated into at least twenty languages. He edited the poetry journals Woodnotes and Tundra, and he also runs a small press, called Press Here (since 1989). From 2013 to 2015 he served as poet laureate for Redmond, Washington. He has won first place in numerous poetry contests, and in 2012 a translation from one of his books (cotranslated from the Japanese with Emiko Miyashita) appeared on the back of 150,000,000 U.S. postage stamps. Ha! I just marked a bunch of books, and they're a small fraction of what I have (I'd guess about 4,000+ haiku books and journals, and another 300 (?) tanka books. Trust me, though, lots of the books I have aren't entirely worth reading. And there are so many haiku books I haven't read yet either . . .


Bryson I think that your library definitely proves that I have a lot of haiku reading to do.
