Jose Rizal in Paris in the 1880's. It is one of his better pictures, one that shows his long slender fingers and the muscled arms under his tight coat sleeves. Can we presume that he would use this as his profile pic if he was on FB?

Historic EDSA is the site of the 1986 People Power Revolution. Formerly Highway 54 it was renamed in honor of the historian and National Library Director Epifanio de los Santos (1871-1928) now we can connect a face to the streetname.

Rizal is considered the "Father of Philippine Komiks" because he drew "The Tale of the Monkey and the Turtle" in komiks form. This frame showing the angry monkey is one of my favorites and I hope to print them on t-shirts someday.

The first gold coins minted by the Casa de Moneda in Manila in the 19thC carried the profile of Isabel II. On the reverse the Spanish coat of arms was atop "Filipinas" the first time the name of the archipelago appeared in coinage. These coins came in 1, 2
