Q: In which order should I read the House of Night books?

Many people frequently ask me what is the exact order of the House of Night. In total there are sixteen books; twelve main novels with four novellas. I decided to make a post to clarify the exact order of the series. Please feel free to click any book you're interested in and follow the link to extra information as well as signed editions. The series is in order as follows:

1) Marked - The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres have always existed. In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampire--that is, if she makes it through the Change. Not all of those who are chosen do. It's tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling. She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx. But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers. When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny--with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

The remainder of the books are in order and include the novellas in the order in which they were released:

2) Betrayed
3) Chosen
4) Untamed
5) Hunted
6) Tempted
7) Burned
8) Awakened
9) Dragon's Oath (Novella 1)
10) Destined
11) Lenobia's Vow (Novella 2)
12) Hidden
13) Neferet's Curse (Novella 3)
14) Revealed
15) Kalona's Fall (Novella 4)
16) Redeemed

Laura Danielle I rather read the series in order so I know what is going on instead of skipping around reading the novellas in a different order

P.C. Cast The novellas are meant to be read with the series in the order there are listed here. The novellas can, of course, be read out of order, but it makes more sense this way and gives info that adds to the reading of the big books.

Laura Danielle I agree. I hate readi g books out of order. I have Marked but I want a few more of the books in the series so I can start it. I hate reading the first book of a series but if I read it now then I'll want to buy the rest of the series but I'm on a no book buy

Emilia Deleon in order so you can get why the events in the book happened

Susan I LOVED this series and read all the books and never knew about the Novella's..lol...so needless to say I read the novellas last and was able to follow along just fine.

Brittney Boyer I honestly forgot about the Novellas until seeing this post. I don't find a true need for them, but they are a little helpful for more insight into the other sides of things.

Danielle Garfoot I have all 12 main books. I never new about the Novellas until now.

Melissa Marie I swear I saw on here a loooong time ago that the order went as follows:

Marked
Dragon's Oath
Betrayed
Chosen
Neferet's Curse
Kalona's Fall
Untamed
Hunted
Tempted
Burned
Awakened
Destined
Hidden
Revealed

I don't know where Lenobia's Vow fell, though. Barnes & Noble is the only place I can find it in this order, now.

But hey, since the author herself has confirmed the true order, that's the way I'll read it. That order makes way more sense, anyway.
