…so I had something special planned for you guys today, in that I was going to post the first five pages or so of Chapter One of Downside 6 (still tentatively titled UNHOLY LUCK).



However, since I tend to be a pantser rather than a plotter, something’s just happened later in the book kind of steps on that chapter! Oh, the joys of pantsing!

So I’ve got a little bit of editing to do on it yet–I’ll probably be done with it by tonight, but I don’t want to post it at eleven pm, and I want to give a bit of advance notice anyway.

I’m really excited about this one, and about you seeing it. There’s a casino and a stalker and ghosts galore, and of course all of our favorite Downside folks–and some BIG changes coming for Chess, which she will handle in her own special fucked-up-but-hopeful way, and I think you guys will be really excited and happy with it (I hope you will, anyway).

So look out for that next week!

Meanwhile, you guys know that I like to bake, because it clears my head and gives me something to do with my hands while I figure out what’s going to happen next in whatever book or story I’m working on. However, it is just too fucking hot to do much baking at the moment–I can barely bring myself to cook dinner, much less keep opening the hot oven door for cupcakes and trays of cookies and bread and such.

You guys also know that I’ve been building Superbeds for my girls, and soon will be building one for Hubs and me (with lots of storage) as well as a while custom comic book storage unit along our bedroom wall.

But I’ve been building some other things, too, some decorative things and useful things and such–just having fun, basically, playing with wood and metal and power tools. I generally give these items away, but frankly, most people I know already have homes full of little Kane Specials, and my neighbor keeps insisting I could sell this stuff. So I’m thinking maybe I’ll do that; open an Etsy store or something, assuming it’s not something where I have to offer a certain amount of stuff on a set schedule, because I do this while plotting/thinking about book stuff–so it comes after/around writing and not before. What do you guys think?

Just this short one today–that chapter & book are calling me (and I still have to finish edits on a different project, and I’m so close to done I can taste it)!
