Thank you for sharing the talk you gave. The insight into what brought you to write All Systems Red and what thoughts went into creating SecUnit were interesting. The movie and book sources that influenced writing Murderbot were helpful. The anger during changing times understandable. The power of corporations over lives as illustrated in the Murderbot series seems too possible. Sentient beings shouldn't be enslaved and I absorb such messages within the very pleasurable experience of reading the Murderbot books. Sometimes I feel that it's a subversive act on my part to recommend this series to followers of that former president.

I didn't know about you putting many of your own struggles into this characters but it makes so much sense. There is so much nuance and complexity in how you characterize Murderbot and so many of my favorite characters with mental illnesses were written by people who have gone through similar things or have loved ones who did.
