I agree about how dumb that plot twist was after she got home. That really killed the book for me. Up until that point, I was ok with the book--not that I ever thought it was GREAT, but it was on a better track for sure. She stuffed way too much drama into one book, as if she had too many ideas but rather than save them for separate books, decided to include them all in this one. Really, how much bad luck can one character have?! The twist was completely implausible.
