I felt like this as I progressed through the series. The people in Essos (Daenerys and co.) really failed to interest me in A Dance With Dragons , I found many of the characters very forgettable despite their heavy presence in the book.
I've read all five books also, and will probably not read the sixth. If and when it ever comes out. I will watch the HBO series though. I also prefer the TV version to the books, as they don't get bogged down in sub-plots, and sub-sub-plots. I usually feel the opposite.
