Thanks, that finally expalins why I can't get into this book, I lack the rebel blood. :D
Oh, you don't need to grope under the bed to find the racists in this book. They're all out there in plain sight, joining the KKK to protect white women from the ravages of the newly freed slaves, and in the over-the-top rendition of the dialect of every one of the black characters.
