Same I wanted to see ryel have some good character development he was sooo broken and lily didn't try to fix him like everyone else did she was ... Irratating? No wrong g usage unit irritated with her sometime she give off I'm not like other girls vibe on some occasion which annoyed me

I think it ties back to her parents relationship and how she viewed it. Her mother tried to fix her father for years, yet she succumbed to him and his abuse. I don't think Lily was weak or "gave up" on Ryle. Lily recognized his abuse, much like her father's, and as it happened more than once, she didn't want to end up like her mother and make her daughter witness the abuse as she did as a child. Ryle had to work on himself and it couldn't land in Lily's obligations to fix him. I would have loved to see Ryle become a "good" character, but I think that would have gone against the whole point of the book and the development of Lily.

@Lilly - I feel like no one is obligated to fix anyone or anything. Lily has tried her best to go through the emotional hardship with Ryle. But no one can help Ryle, not even Lily and she has given more than enough as she does not want to replay the same cycle as her parents. I loved that she is strong enough to end the relationship even though it hurt her incredibly
