Stephen The ages are all advanced three years in the TV adaptation. I saw the series first and am now rewatching AS I read the books. They are both very good. The TV version seems steamier but the book version does explore the characters a bit more deeply. In my opinion.

Merel I am a big defender of always reading the book first. But, for once, the series is actually very good. I don't think watching the series first, will ruin the experience of reading the book. There are still a lot details and story lines that will be new.

Dean I agree. I watched the first series prior to reading the Game of Thrones book and that got me into the series. In many respects i find watching the TV series good because it helps with getting to grips with all the different characters.
