You might try Santa Olivia for paranormal. Don't know about the romance part though. For romance, I liked Time Traveler's Wife and Outlander. Try The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley. It's another all time favorite. Then the sequel, The Blue Sword. I can never get enough of these two books. I haven't found any other McKinley books that measure up to these two.
