William Hazlitt? I have never read any of his work. I had never even heard Hazlitt's name until you mentioned him, thank you for bringing him to my attention.
The greatest minds are often the most troubled, or at least deemed so by society. Hazlitt sounds truly fascinating, I will look up your friends book, thanks for the recommendation.
I did presume that comment was concerning Hazlitt rather than your friend Maurice, best to clarify though.
