Erin O'Riordan No, he did not. He did not tell us if the Count and Haydee got married, if Albert ever came back from his military deployment or whether Maximilian and Valentine ever saw the Count again. I actually, literally did not want this book to end when it did.

Chris You are both right, it finished with many threads left open, but I do think he ended it in the right place. Otherwise we would have had another lord of the rings ending where Tolkien kept finishing but didn't. That frustrated me. As for my concept... I will include some things about Edmond’s life before imprisonment, but I'm going to do it the way Dumas did it, through clues and hints in the story. The story is about the years that Monte Cristo is missing (9 years in total) and using Dumas' clues throughout the book tell the story of how Edmond maneuvered himself so well to take revenge on the three he hated so much.
