Mike Colombo Odile you hit it dead center. Your answer is what the while book is about. Pi tell his interviewers as much. It isn't a question about what is true, it is a question about which story is best. I don't necessarily agree with his philosophy but that IS what he is trying to say. That is the whole point of the Muslim, Jewish, Catholic, Hindu issue at the beginning of the book. Sorry I did't see your post earlier

Cat You really got out all I wanted to say. For me though, part of me has faith that the tiger story is true, or at least it could be true and he just told that other one for those people who couldn't believe in the tiger story. I felt more like he was trying to judge those people, on if they have faith or not...

Nabil Murad i just happen to watched the film yesterday, got the book but yet to read it. the only things that stuck my mind is the events of two Japanese agents that force pi to made up another story.
