I agree! Today, no one would be allowed to write a book that long, and that's exactly what would be trimmed.
And that's a good thing in your mind? "Allowed" is interesting.
I don't mind the descriptions the second time I read a book but the first time I'm just too interested in the plot to appreciate the minor details. I just HAVE to know what's going to happen next and those descriptions get in my way lol. But I do like and enjoy them after I've read the book once.
I agree with John. What about Stephen King books? Many of his books are very long, and he has many long books in some of his series.
