The actress for Scarlet would have to be young enough to play a 16 year old and a 26 year old.(I think she's 26 when the book ends?)
Well, Vivien Leigh was a little long in the tooth when she did Gone with the Wind. She was in her mid twenties and she pulled off being sixteen then, why can't Kate Winslet play her now?
Vivien Leigh did an awesome job. But mid twenties playing a teenager isn't a huge leap. We get actors and actresses doing that all the time. I think someone almost 40 playing a teen is ab it more difficult to believe. I suggested Rachel Mcadams earlier but now that I think about it, I think she's getting up there too. I just haven't seen her in anything in quite a few years. It's hard to remember that people age lol.

It's all in the face; you know how some people could pass for 20 or 35? Someone like that who could pass for different ages. Of course costumes and makeup helps in the appearance department as well.

Vivien definitely had the face for the role; I personally think Kate can do it as well, as they both have vintage looking faces. I agree.
