Ah-ha! I thought we were only doing P&P. Yes, I love Persuasion and Anne especially. She's not as skittish as Fanny, nor so annoying as Emma. I read Jane Fairfax not that long ago and I absolutely loved it. Gave me a whole new perspective on Emma, Jane, Frank and the gang. Haven't read Northanger Abbey in a long, long time. Always bounce between P&P, S&S, Persuasion and of course, Lost in Austen, ha ha!
yea sorry about that I misread the discussion topic. My favourite character is Mr Darcy. HIs reserve which covers an innate shyness in him endeared him to me not the other way round. Once we get to know him more intimately we see that he is a man of honour and integrity. The way he looks after the people on his estate and his good friends. He is the one who changes the most during the course of the book. Elizabeth has a profound effect on him and we see him start to step outside his reserve and into an arena where he is more open to those outside his circle and where he no longer focuses on Elizabeth's station in life. And of course he makes an ideal romantic hero that readers with romantic tendencies can relate to and I'm one of those....
