S The Disney version is pretty dark-for a Disney film. Let's remember that the Charles Laughton version also gives the novel a semi-happy ending.

Ronali Dela Cruz I agree with Toni. While not everything in life is "Disney-esque," and certainly there had been plenty of books and novels that deal with the unpleasant, the deviant, and even the taboo, I wouldn't stop a 13-year-old from reading "Hunchback." In fact, I wish more young people would read it.
