Julie I think the moral of the story is whatever someone gets out of it. If the boy wasn't greedy, always wanting, never giving of himself, the tree would still flourish. It's all perspective.

Molly Tysle Yes, that's what I thought. The tree can't be moved, can't join the boy. Only the boy can join the tree. Your comment is a good way of putting it.

Jodi Suson I like your version of the moral of the story. The best thing you can offer is your time. Although, I do see that the boy would keep taking and only coming to visit when he needed something also. That is sad. Your version, happy.
