P.D.R. Lindsay Oh I do get so frustrated with Goodreads. I waste so much time trying to get my author's page sorted.

How do I get the doubling up of 'Tales From Old Japan: Stories to enchant and entertain' removed. All I did was get a really good new cover -it's a bronze medal cover and doing a great job attracting people on other sites - for the book but I now have two versions. I want that old blue cover version removed but how do I do it?

AND yes I ave tried the Librarians but every time I posted (more wasted time)_I got a pink error message and the post was refused- five times!

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Hi pdr

For some reason I dont have internet. Im on data now. Ill look when I have it back.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Hi pdr by the time I got the internet up & running, I had to go to the museum. & then I had a nap!

I have moved this query to the correct folder. Hope that's ok, but I would like all the Gr librarian queries to stay in the same folder.

I'll just take a look now.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ & its what I thought.

I've read this book.

This is what I want to see when I look for it.
Tales From Old Japan by P.D.R. Lindsay

I want to see the edition I have read.

Here is the cover of my copy of Sense & Sensibility.

Really ugly. I don't care. That is the edition I want to see.

The author wants their shiny new edition up, but this site was originally set up as a site for readers. This is how they got thousands of members to do unpaid work as volunteer librarians. When I started as a librarian. That was it. The most read edition was the one that showed first. Eventually the newer edition would become the most popular & the one that would be displayed.

Well, a lot of authors were very unhappy about this, especially if there first edition had an amateurish cover done by a friend & they had paid for a really lovely second cover.

Eventually the complaints paid off & Gr made a change. Authors can now set a default edition which means their favoured cover is the display cover.

Here are the instructions;

As the thread says, only the author & staff can set the default. Most authors like having that control.

If you can't get it to work you will need to contact Support
https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...

I know authors who have struggled with this & librarians have talked them through it, but Goodreads search being what it is of course I can't find any of the threads concerned.

Hope this helps!

Erica Yeah I agree with Carol, don't remove editions. As a reader I want to pick the edition of the book I read as the cover is often a prompt for my memory when I look back on the books I've read.

Yeah, I looked on authors being able to set the default as a good compromise.
