Oh, gosh, this is exactly what my daughter keeps telling me. We have these aesthetic back-and-forth discussions about art where I'll say: "Making art about ugly things is easy and shallow; making art about beautiful things is a higher calling," and she'll say: "you just say that because the first one comes easier for you, stop fighting it," and I say, "hmm..."
