Jennifer Pullen Thank you for answering. I am very sorrow for being unkind. I would never want to do that. I am writer myself, I had never heard that the question was taboo. I just wanted to know without making assumptions, I've been hearing rumblings of people switching voluntarily in the last few years due to contract issues, and I was curious, as I teach publishing classes sometimes at my uni. My deepest apologies. I am sorry they fired you, that is so unjustified I love your books, they have been my go-to pleasure reading for years now when I take a break from teaching. Once again, sorry for asking an unkind question, that was not my intent, but it clearly impacted you regardless, and for that I am truly sorry!

Karen Chance No problem. I'm probably overly sensitive about it, as it was done in a blindside with no warning after complete loyalty from me for fifteen years. And when you keep getting asked about something after that, over and over and over . . . yeah. Anyway, here's hoping your writing career goes better than mine!

Jennifer Pullen Thanks. :) Being sensitive in that situation is understandable. I am sure it feels like a terrible betrayal to get dropped out of nowhere. I hope your situation improves. I hope I don't suffer anything like that either, fingers crossed. I hope things get better for you, I am glad you are still writing either way.

Callmegin Jennifer's question was in no way inappropriate or rude. Many authors are now self-publishing. Her question was fair and not "unkind".
And FYI your response is a typical "Karen" thing to do. There was no need to berate someone for asking a simple question. You did NOT need to include the last sentences of your response. In fact you didn't even have to respond.

And you're right you are being "overly sensitive" about it.
