X-Men, Spiderman, Namor, etc. were sold off by Marvel so they wouldn't go bankrupt, not because a studio passed on them. Marvel didn't have the rights for them until they gained enough money, etc. to make deals or buy them back outright. (I can understand Disney passing on Kane, tbh, I don't think the novels were as strong or popular. I'm still looking forward to Netflix's adaption...tho it'll be interesting to see if it's affected by the fallout from their Cleopatra "documentary.")
