I was a professional technical writer for 45 years (over 25 of then as a contractor). I also couild not afford writer's block. I defeated it by not writing linearly, from page 1 to the end. I skip around. When I get stuck, jump to somewhere else and write a while. Then my subconscious will unblock the place I was stuck and I return to it.
