Thank you for your answer! Now I'm really interested in reading one of those dime novels (the one with owl people on the cover!!). But honestly I adore those scenes when Whyborne is acting all grumpy and Griffin is either too excited or too innocent to notice any of that. They make a good couple (◕‿◕)♡

I always thought Griffin's reading habits were an ironic wink at the readers.
