I've been thinking about "The Willows" throughout all three books. This makes me so happy!
I'm surprised to not see "Roadside Picnic" listed here. I recently read it and couldn't help but think the Southern Reach trilogy was in conversation with it.
I had the same associaton: Roadside Picnic + Cthulhu Mythos.
Jeff, if you really want to se sublime interpersonal interaction, analyse Aliens. The interaction between the characters are very, very on point.
