Janebbooks Well, I thought it may be Hakan Nesser's Van Veeteran (no first name), Chief Inspector in a country resembling Sweden...now retired. Van Veeteran loved his eats about as much as Parker's "Spenser" and Rex Stout's "Nero Wolfe." I'll have to re-read Sanders' Deadly Sins series...I love gourmand detective characters...

If you guys haven't read Redemption Road by John Hart, it is a great thriller and roller coaster ride.
