Patrick Brigham Somehow your reply sounds like a good story in itself!

M.L. Wow - totally agree!!!

Sara Niles I never imagined that the Da Vinci Code held such a great backstory, although I knew the road to success is rarely paved with gold.
Thank you, Dan Brown, for persevering and providing such a great contribution to the literary world.

J.D. Hughes When you had success with Da Vinci, how did it impact Digital Fortress and your other novels?

message 5: by Verna (new)

Verna Clay Thanks for sharing! I love reading back stories, especially about one of my favorite books. Somehow, I guess I just imagined you were successful from the getgo.

message 6: by Joelle (new)

Joelle I know so many authors waiting years for that overnight success (I include myself in that group). Once The Da Vinci Code became a success, did you ever panic about writing more successful stories? Did you get writer's block? Or were you prepared to hit the ground running?
Thanks,
Joelle Burnette

Caroline Gebbie What a fantastic journey, so pleased you persevered.

Very nice to learn this story, Dan, thanks for sharing it. The DaVinci code is one of my fav books, and has been really inspiring in many ways. For an artist like me, it was thrilling to read a novel where entertainment, art and academic themes were blended so naturally. The book title is pretty strong as well, it keeps the reader curious to know its meaning.

message 14: by Ada (new)

Ada Mr. Brown I love all your books, the way you write, all the small details and the suspense. They are amazing. I didnt like the movies. Especially for inferno,I failed to understand how is it possible to have such a beautiful ending and changing it to a boring predictable one. I truly believe that your books would make a lovely tv series, where we could enjoy the details of your wok.

message 15: by Olena (new)

Olena It is very interesting to know it now in 2018) I am from Ukraine and here Digital Fortress appears after The Da Vinci Code was published. I have read all your books but still Digital Fortress is the best for me. I would like that you try to write a book about future. I believe it is going to be another succesful story. Your writing skills are very special. Good luck.

Mridula മൃദുല Just reading this gave me goosebumps. Like, it was happening to me. I should be an idiot to feel so even without publishing a book. I am your fan. For me, Langdon looks exactly like you.

message 19: by Yy (new)

Yy Ah I love Digital Fortress so so so much! You, Sir, have made my childhood absolutely amazing and fascinating. I remember how reading Digital Fortress made my heart pound and thrill run down my spine (and later on, same with Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons). You are truly my inspiration and role model and I thank you for sharing your beautiful and hypnotizing writing with the world!! :)

message 20: by Anthony (new)

Anthony Porter interesting the part on preorders, I didn't get that, How can you already have preorders when you just submitted your manuscript?

message 21: by André (new)

André Buitoni Thanks a lot for sharing this inspiring comment about your career. To me, as a new writer, you are a great inspiration! Your books are sitting on my shelf right next to where I write, as a reminder that one day I might be the next Dan Brown. Or maybe just 10% Dan Brown, that would be awesome! BTW, looking forward to your next upcoming release, The Secret of Secrets!!!
