The fate of Valentine's farm seems to echo the Rosewood Massacre. Did you take any inspiration from that?
Plus, 80 years after the Valentine Farm era, Indiana had more KKK chapters than any other state.
I have not read the book as of yet but the TV series "The Underground Railroad" is truly a Beautiful,Tragic and a must be seen truth. Thank you for your inspiration
