-cough- Little Mermaid would also be pretty interesting I feel -cough- 0:)
What about The Lion King? (That's my favorite Disney movie.) Or maybe that would be challenging, since all the characters are animals. Then there's the question of what moment from that movie you'd change. Well, it can't be that Mufasa lives. Ok, when I was kid, I used to think about what would have happened if he'd lived. But as I've gotten older, I've realized, that, yes, he has to die. Because his death is major plot point. (And something that traumatized my generation for life.) Maybe you can still have Mufasa die, but change who kills him. By that, I mean Simba pulling a Kylo Ren.
I would love a story where Merida's mother is turned into a raven by the Morrigan rather than a bear by the witch.
Maybe I'm odd, but I would love a re-telling of Peter Pan. It's probably my favorite fairy tale. Could have a pretty dark version. The original Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie is a little dark.
@Nadine, Everland is a great Peter Pan retelling. Also, I would love a Brave one. Or a Tangled one... I take that back. Just do both!
