Yay!
Stop. I didn't think there was another person on the planet who loved that song as much as me!!! (My family even laughs at my love for it when we hear it!), this is sooooooooooooooooo exciting to hear! You're awesome, Tracey, and I've loved all of your books! Be encouraged and keep on writing---cause I'm sure the audience is heavenly but the (writing process) can sometimes be hell. ;)
It is RIDICULOUS how much I love that song. I play it in my car all the time. One day I was talking to my Penguin editor about how much I loved it, and she said, "That would make a great book. You should write that." I was in the middle of writing Covet at the time and couldn't fathom taking on anything else. I told her I'd think about it and then I jotted down some notes and told myself I'd come back to it someday when I had more time.
Every time I listen to that song, I wonder what happened between Dan Fogelberg and the woman he's singing about. Which, by the way, is a real person. http://blog.mysanantonio.com/timewast... e-story-behind-same-old-lang-syne/ What was their love affair like? What broke them apart?
I'm really excited about this book. The characters won't just talk about what happened to them, they'll show the reader in the "past" chapters while they're feeling their way through their new relationship in the "present" chapters.
Thank you so much for your support, enthusiasm, and encouragement for my writing. I appreciate it so much! And I'm embarrassed to admit this, but for the longest time I thought the lyrics were, "I said the audience was HELPING ME," instead of heavenly. LOL. The writing process can sometimes be hell. That is absolutely true. But my readers make it so worthwhile!
That's hilarious! And, for fun, I'll sing those lyrics next time! LOL. Man. We are kindred because I've wondered that very thing because for him to write that it had to be significant!! Dan's Leader of the Band song is also amazing lyrically for other reasons...look at us fangirling over Dan Fogelberg! HAHA #showingourage I am even more excited to read it after the you described the idea and the storytelling! Keep us posted!! Prayers for happy, quick writing!!
