Bill Great list, James. I'm pleased to say I've read four of them! I've never heard of Don Winslow, so I have added his name to my TBR list.

Mary Higginson Haven't read the first two but the others are brilliant. I especially liked The Winter of FM although The Big Sleep is a classic.

Jason Allison Winslow's interesting for his ability to emotionally convey a saga as complex as the war on drugs but still write in a completely different voice as in Frankie Machine, Savages or the Kings of Cool.
