Frederick Tan Jack Reacher seriously kicks ass.

message 4: by Coryl (new)

Coryl Hindle how on earth could you let Tom Cruise play the part of Jack Reacher, Tom is a small pipsqueek and Jack is a shithouse door

Jim Hines Lee Child is an amazing author and the character of Jack Reacher is awesome. I've read of of Child's books and can't wait to see the latest movie based on his novel. Keep writing Lee!!

Olivia Tuttle I too was wondering about the use of Tom Cruise in the movie. I can't think of too many of today's actors who could play the part.

message 7: by Steve (new)

Steve Utschig I enjoyed every one of your novels so far and look forward to the next one.

message 8: by False (new)

False Tom Cruise is too short, too cossetted over time and too under the thumb of Scientology to ever be Jack Reacher. I mean, come ON. Do you REALLY think Jack Reacher needs to get clear?

message 9: by Ben (new)

Ben The first Jack Reacher I read i loved however Hollywood has kind of ruined it for me by casting Tom Cruise. He is the complete physical opposite of Jack Reacher which I feel does the character a complete disservice. Jack's physicality is a big part of the character and you can't get a more polar opposite than Tom Cruise.

message 10: by Uncle Jorge (new)

Uncle Jorge Did Tom Cruise buy the rights to Jack Reacher? He has ruined the series. Please read the books and pass up the movies!

message 11: by Mike (new)

Mike Marsbergen What does Tom Cruise have to do with this? Why do Reacher fans who hate Tom Cruise always chime in about it on everything, no matter how unrelated it is to the films? Grow up and just don't watch the movies. There wouldn't be any Jack Reacher movies if not for Tom Cruise, so your best bet is to wait thirty years and hope for a rebooted series.

message 12: by Theresa (new)

Theresa Hope to see more Jack Reacher movies--my hubby likes them, but he doesn't read the books! He an avid reader of Christian novels so I represent all non fiction reading!! LOL.

message 13: by Ben (new)

Ben Nobody is saying they hate Tom Cruise..they are saying that he is the complete wrong actor for the part. Usually when casting for films producers try to match the characters in the books with real life counterparts, people are just commenting that Tom Cruise is the complete opposite of how Jack Reacher is physically portrayed in the books and in fact Mr. Child makes an effort in EVERY book to tell the readers of Jack Reacher's enormous size.

message 14: by Jessie (new)

Jessie Love the books and I personally think Tom Cruise has done a great job with the Jack Reacher character. Forget his size, pay attention to his acting. I get it, Tom as a person in the REAL world is questionable, but he does a good job on screen, mostly.

I have read all the Reacher books, and loved the short stories, your gift of the denoument is spot on. I am looking forward to this year's offering. However, you knew that was coming right? It has been almost twenty years now, and I would like to see Reacher age, providing inner struggles as well as external. The reader could empathise, the long term reader. However, I guess by keeping him frozen in time a new reader always sees him in his prime.

Christian12tx Exceptional style, unpredicted turns. Lee Child Reacher character flows free of commitments. His medals are invisible, or perhaps in his pocket!

message 17: by Cathy Saunders (new)

Cathy Saunders I love all the Reacher books. They keep you on your toes all the time.

Teresa Gibson Dear Mr. Child, I have been a big fan of your Jack Reacher novels since "The Killing Floor" and have read them all in the series. I am a Grandmother of 9 and don't like violence
, but your books are my only exception in my entertainment world. I only have one complaint. TOM CRUISE!!!!! He does not fit any of your descriptions of Jack Reacher. He is a small pretty boy with a huge ego. He can't act his way out of that. His personality in the movie does not match your descriptions either. You needed some one more like Vin Diesel to match your descriptions and fit the personality better. I will continue to read the next books in the series, that I hope will be coming. But I refuse to watch a movie that totally change the main character in your books. I get the same feedback when talking to friends and family about this. Only men who have not read the books are okay with Tom in the movie. Best wishes and thank you for the hours of entertainment.

Karen Dvorak I think it is impossible not to like Jack R., he is a perfect combination of toughness and integrity...please keep him alive. We wait to hear from him again.

message 20: by A.M. (new)

A.M. Young My wife and I love your work! The Jack Reacher series has kept us engaged for a very long time. She is an Army Captain, so I suspect Reacher resonates with her in many ways. I just happen to love the outside the lines military character with the nomadic tendencies. Great work.

I think that you're an awesome writer, someday I wish to write just like you. sincerely samantha

message 22: by Randolph (new)

Randolph Polk Will Jack Reacher ever visit Alaska? Or Canada? Or Australia?

message 23: by Maria (new)

Maria Murad Not just lucky -- an excellent writer who grabs the reader and doesn't let go!

message 24: by A.C. (new)

A.C. Sherman I took your BBC Maestro class - as well as Harlan Coben's and Jed Mercurio"s. I have recently self-published novel and highly recommend those courses. Thank you for taking the time to teach them. You are a generous man.
