Corrine Wentworth's daughter I believe was converted in the womb. As for the conversion it can be done with complete exchanges so long as the human is strong enough to survive. Manolito converted Luis, a jaguar shifter in one afternoon to save his life at Maryann's request when he saved, her, Solange and Jasmine when attacked by Jaguar men who had gone rogue.
Dark Melody is Corinne Wentworth and Dayan's story, well worth a re-read! She is converted while pregnant. There are several instances when a Carpathian has offered to not finish converting his lifemate and simply live out her lifespan, so theoretically, you could live a normal human lifespan that way. They've all ended up completing the conversion so far, so we, as readers, don't know for certain. It sounds like it would be difficult, having to force oneself to eat thin vegetable soup to survive.
