In one of Ford's Sinners books, there's a mention of a certain duo that I have great affection for. Every since then, I've had two competing theories, and love both of them.
One, W&G reincarnate and have to fall in love over and over again. Or, the find the secret to immortality and live happily ever after... with a few shenanigans along the way.
I can see Ival and Griffin as doddering old grandpas.
