That would be fantastic! I haven't given up on the 3rd book!
I first read Fear Nothing when I was about 14 - my dad said I’d love it and I truly did. I’m rereading them now at 22 and I love the books just as much, I look forward to more Christopher Snow!
Stupid, stupid publisher! Chris Snow was one of my favorite characters, and I've always wanted him to make a comeback. I hope to see him again in the not-to-distant future.
Cats know things.
When I delivered SEIZE THE NIGHT, number two, it was not received with enthusiasm. It was considered “too out there” and “too funny,”
Can anything really be TOO funny? Seize the Night is among my favourite books of yours and everyone online seems to agree, too! Your funnier books are my favourite.
Please do the third book!
I love the Chris Snow books and indeed want more. Also, if you do it, please have Keith Szarabajka do the narration.
And if he won't then Scott Brick. Two of the best in the business!
I've been looking forward to more of the series for the majority of my life now. I was always fascinated by your portrayal of the abandoned base, the D.U.M.B. under it and especially by the "egg" room. It's the kind of stuff I remember and revisit in my mind as I try to go to sleep. I will be a very happy man when I can finally return to Moonlight Bay.
That's the most detail I've heard about this in years. Those first 2 books are my favorites of yours and would love to finally see a conclusion to this story.
Respectfully, wouldn't you have had enough leverage to tell that publisher that you were going to finish the trilogy? Even if they personally disliked Seize the Night, they had to have known that the finale of a trilogy would sell well. Heck, they probably knew that you could have written a restaurant menu and it would sell well. I read all of your novels up until that point (even many out-of-print novels), but it was so deflating that the trilogy wasn't finished that I believe that I've only read a couple of your novels since then.
I'm super late to the party here... but I agree with John, these are some of my favorite characters (Orson!!) and I've been DYING to read the 3rd book. It would be AMAZING if you could do a standalone book to finish out Moonlight Bay. Hey, who says you have to finish it? Maybe it could become another series??? I just want more Chris Snow!!
Dean, thank you for your frank explanation. Have to confess I very disappointed the last 20+ years haven’t seen that 3rd book hit the shelves, and I had blamed you for getting distracted with Odd Thomas (a character I do not like, in a series I do not like, especially after you offed his girlfriend at the end of the first book). I was pretty torqued. Now I get it. But please don’t take the easy way out. Write the 3rd book as you intended: a sequel. Anything else will probably fall flat. And match the tone of the first book, not the second. Your publisher was a bit harsh, but there was some merit in the critique.
Also, Piers Anthony finished his incarnations of immortality series with a different publisher than he began with. No matter. Do what you’ve gotta do, and as Steven King said, “Finish the job!”
I have always wondered the same about whether the series would continue not just a third, but fourth and so on?
I really enjoyed Chris Snow as a Character!!!
I have wondered for so long about the 3rd book. Another book with Chris Snow, especially a "nice fat standalone", would be amazing!!!
That would be amazing!! Christopher Snow is still one of my favorite characters! His backstory was so interesting and his friendships are fun to read about. He's got an attitude that I immediately enjoyed and related to.
Yes, please! That would be wonderful! He’s a character that has stayed with me for years, a story I thoroughly enjoyed .
I've been going nuts wanting the third book for . . a long time. Long enough that I've gone from stealing my dad's Dean Koontz books in secret to being able to openly share mine with him.
I need a minute in the mind of Dean Koontz to learn how to turn the negative into the positive. I admire your way of approaching things as learning, learned, or yet to be learned. I sometimes go straight to a frustrated sigh, eye roll, and a cuss when something significant sets me back. I'm a WIP, I suppose.
