Ozzie Silvers very valid points! as a writer currently working on my second novel I have investigated the writing community on line and what I find a lot of is mass production of what I consider to be novellas by many of those in the self publishing community. I don't feel that putting out a book once a month or every other month is quality work, to me that is mass production and it kills the art form. I don't see how you can perform at that level and still be writing out of a love for "making the language sing". I am curious what your opinion of this is? is this really the only way to find success as a author in the current age?

Sarah Just like teaching - your students will learn more if you seem to enjoy teaching them! It must be very difficult to be a writer in these times, easy to get self-published or even published professionally but not necessarily being able to make a living from it unless your work really takes off.

Stephen Mills Writing is hard. Writing "well" is next to impossible. Writing for financial success? Good luck. We write because we love it...if we can make enough money for, say, a nice 18 year MacAllan? Now that is success.

Bonnie Devine Perhaps this sounds odd, but I think writing in a sense is much like cooking or baking. When a person is doing something creative; that springs from the self and the need to create, you as the one tasting or reading, can feel the love and the passion in the crafting of it.
