1194258 sorry this group stopped sending me notifications for some reason, if you’re still wanting to do a word war then what would you want to make the time limit or goal?

1194258 I GOOGLED IT AND THEY SOUND FUN! so I'm definitely up for it if you want to :)

1194258 I’ve never heard of word wars, what are they? Because I would be open to trying it out, my motivations been dwindling and I’m competing too so I’m intrigued lol

1194258 I’ve struggled with this same problem several times and the best thing you can do is not force yourself to write, it will just make it worse. There are infinite ways you can approach this and different ways work better for different people and situations. A few the things I’ve tried are
A) lowering your goal, maybe wait a couple days to see how much you’re writing a day now, then lower it to whatever sounds manageable, you can always raise it again
B) switching projects, sometimes this helps a lot because it can spark your interest again and it’s like starting from the beginning but with a head start
C) writing sprints, a couple ten minute writing sprints can really save a daily goal, you can even play a song two or three times on repeat and call that your timer
those three seem to help me the most, but really anything you think will work or might want to try is worth a shot. hope this helps :)

1194258 (this is kind of messy and I didn't bother with grammer because I'm all grammered out already, but maybe it'll help someone so here's my mess lol I apologize for how horribly it reads)

ummm... I wrote 4,000 words yesterday. that was the best NaNo start I've ever had. 4,000 words + I created an extensive list of the flora and fauna in my kingdom (with where they live and some vague migration paths and times for the animals and blooming patterns and habitats for the plants), made a family tree going back eight generations from my MC and calculated how long it had been AND created a custom calender (like a unique version not in this world) complete with moon phases, seasons, festivals, months, the whole custom shebang ALL IN ONE DAY
and now I'm a little scared lol

anyway wanted to share how I did the writing part, though it might not work for everyone (though if you're interested in the other things just ask, world building is my favorite part):
- basically I just did a bunch of 5-10 minute word sprints all throughout the day whenever I had the time or a little burst of inspiration. some ended up being longer like 15-20 minutes if the words flowed but for the most part it was under 10 minute sprints.
- I wrote on whatever was closest, a journal one time, my laptop another, ipad or phone, scrap piece of paper. so it didn't feel like a lot of writing and I don't feel burned out in the slightest which has always been a problem for me.
- if you can get 100 words per sprint then you need 16 sprints that day to hit 1,6(whatever it is) but 1,600. if you can do 200 per sprint then that's only eight sprints a day to hit the goal. so I ended up doing like 15 5ish minute sprints throughout the day which ended up being like an hour and a half of writing for about 2,000 words (then two longer sessions of an hour-ish each for the other 2,000).
- you can do sprints on top of longer writing sessions or just the sprints if you're having a busy day.

again, I apologize for dumping my grammer-less mess on you (I may edit it at some point), but hopefully this is a hack that will help someone who is just as messy as me

1194258 So so late to answering your question (also good luck with NaNo!!) but probably the three most common and well known ones are OCD, ADHD and Autism and they impact quite a bit but vary from person to person (also Dyslexia). Some more uncommon or unknown ones include Tourettes and Maladaptive Daydreaming. Then there’s also Cerebral Palsy which is infinitely different depending on the person. There are speech or learning disabilities too. You could do amputees or people with wheel chairs as well.

1194258 Literally the best writing advice I could give y’all is write in a font you hate. It makes me so mad that I write best when using fonts I absolutely despise but it works! And I don’t know why 🥲

1194258 oh! me and Kaya have a shared document on google docs where we can dump our ideas and edit scenes together. then we also have our separate documents (that are shared too but only the owner writes in it, the other comments and suggests edits) and that works really well. if you argue in person that might be a good idea to see it on paper and share without actually being face to face and able to get at each other.

1194258 me and Ruqayyah are trying a co-writing a novel but we haven’t done much yet, it’s slow going. we started by coming up with a basic plot and few scene ideas and developing characters together, then started collecting ideas and scenes and stuff separately and now we’re gonna add it together. we’ll see how that goes but it’s worked so far.

my and my brother have also co-written together and it usually ends up being how you described it with me writing most of it and him coming up with ideas with me, then he says he wants to write a scene and then never does it and complains that I’m doing everything. usually we take a break at that point and come back to it once we’re both ready to go again.
